I sampled netbrute on a few machines recently. It's a nice
tool, but I sense it suffers from XP SP2 raw packet
blocking. Others have worked around the issue by using a
lower layer, e.g. Ethernet without signifcant additional
development effort. As MS wishes we all install SP2 -- else
in the future not get security patches, I suspect netbrute
will become obsolete without the fix.A discussion worth reviewing is nmap's approach, most

I believe it's worth the effort. This is a useful tool, and
should continue to be so.
